Story of the Week: Grace and the Time Machine
Vocabulary:
aboard- on board; in or on a ship, train, bus, airplane, etc.
atlas- book of maps
awkward- not graceful or skillful in movement or shape; not easily managed
capable- having fitness, power, or ability; able; efficient; competent
chant- to call over and over again
mechanical- like a machine; automatic; without expression
miracle- a wonderful happening that is contrary to, or independent of, the known laws of nature
vehicle- device for carrying people or things, such as a car, bus, airplane, etc..
Homework this week (no written work & no test comprehension test)
Wednesday-Read Grace and the Time Machine to an adult
Thursday- Reread Grace and the Time Machine to an adult and answer the questions at the end of the story orally (you do not have to write the answer)
Mrs. Smith's homeroom (afternoon group)
This week we will finish our novel study From the Mixed -up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler written by E.L. Konigsburg. The students should be ready to assemble their vocabulary books in class Thursday. We will review Thursday and have a test on the novel Friday. This test will not include vocabulary: Instead the students will earn a test grade for their completed vocabulary book. I look forward to the students sharing their great and hard work!
