Mrs.Smith's Homeroom Behavior Contract

Dear Parents,

In order to ensure that our year continues to be a success (and to make it even more successful), I have developed a behavior system that the class will be following. The rules have been throughly discussed with the students to ensure their understanding. We will no longer have the Cougar Bucks store (the students were able to "spend" their bucks a few weeks ago). The students will  receive rewards daily and I feel they will become more productive and accountable as I work diligently to prepare them for fifth grade. Please help by signing their agendas daily.

Behavior Contract

The purpose of this contract is to show that the Parent(s)/Guardian, and Student understand Mrs. Smith’s Classroom Rules and to also have written agreement showing that everyone will do their best to follow the school Rules.  Listed below are the school Rules:

STAR RULES

S=Stay in your assigned area

T=Talk quietly when given permission

A=Always listen to and follow directions

R=Respect yourself and others

At the beginning of every day, each student will have $10 in their pocket which shows that the student is following school and classroom rules.  If a student keeps $10 for the entire week, he or she will enter to win a Grand Monthly prize (4 chances to enter), verbal praise, good notes, etc.  If at any time a student chooses not to follow the STAR School Rules, the student must pay a “fine” to the Classroom Piggy Bank.  At the end of the day, students will record their money status in their agendas (signed by the parent/guardian).  The elected classroom governor will make everyone accountable by going around the room at the end of each day and checking the amount of money each student has in his/her pocket with the amount written in his/her agenda.  At the end of each day, if a student has $8+ in his/her pocket, he/she will put a sticker on their chart.  (When his/her chart is full, he/she will receive a special prize.)   If a student has $6-$7 the student must walk 10 minutes during our Physical Activity; the student will be getting exercise while giving up 10 minutes of conversation with classmates)...this will also be equal to strike 1. If a student has $3-$5, the student will have Silent Lunch in addition to walking and be at strike 2.  If a student has $0-$2, he/she will call their parent/guardian to explain their behavior and will receive an office referral, considering at this level there have been some major infractions throughout the day.
